MiDAS Training: Drive with Confidence and Skill!
Looking to upskill your team or empower your volunteers? Our MiDAS (Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme) training is perfect for schools, local organisations and community groups who need confident, qualified minibus drivers.
What is MiDAS?
MiDAS is a nationally recognised driving qualification designed to boost your minibus driving abilities while promoting safety and care on the road. Whether you’re part of a small voluntary group or managing large fleets for a local authority, this course has you covered.
WRCC MiDAS Course Overview
We offer two comprehensive modules, tailored to suit your needs:
- Non-Accessible Module: Online Theory Modules provided on behalf of the Community Transport Association (CTA) along with a final test at the end. Once you have passed, we will take you out on your own driving assessment.
- Accessible Module: This includes all the above in the non-accessible module plus an additional module tailored towards accessible functions on your minibus. A practical session will go through how to operate tail lifts and how to competently secure wheelchairs.
Upon completion, you will be awarded your MiDAS certificate via email.
Licence Requirements
To join, you’ll need a D1 entitlement on your driving licence—usually granted if you passed your test before 1997. Not sure if you’re eligible? It’s always best to double-check beforehand.
You may still drive minibuses without a D1 entitlement if you meet these conditions:
- Over 21 and holding a full licence for 2 years
- Volunteering for a not-for-profit organisation
- Driving vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes GVW (or 4.25 tonnes for wheelchair-accessible minibuses)
Note: If you don’t have access to a suitable vehicle and require training for non-D1 licence holders, please contact us directly.
Costs and Value
Invest in high-quality training tailored to your organization’s needs.
- Voluntary/Community Organisation or Charity: Price on Application (POA)
- School or Public Sector Organisation: Price on Application (POA)
All costs are invoiced upon booking and must be settled before your training date.
